On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, the League of Women Voters of the Grand Traverse Area presented a program that focused on county redistricting. Mr. Harold Lassers, who drew the final Grand Traverse redistricting map that was selected by the Redistricting Committee, will describe the process, challenges, and realities of drawing a fair map for Grand Traverse County. It is an example of government working with a commission of 4 Republicans and 1 Democrat coming to a bi-partisan solution. Mr. Lassers is a retired engineer from Bell Labs, Cisco and Juniper Networks. He moved to the area in 2012 with the intention of retiring and enjoying all the area outdoor activities - paddling, biking, skiing and hiking. He became an active volunteer both inside and outside of politics.
